The unexpected는 어린이와 아마츄어 연주자들도 그림을 오려 붙이거나 따라 그려서 만들어 직접 연주를 해보는 곡으로 타악기 연주자 김은혜에 의해서 초연되었다. 작곡이 놀이라는 개념으로 만든 작품으로 어린이다운 손그림으로 구성되어 있는 스티커북처럼 생긴 악보를 보고 스스로 만드는 작품이다.

서울문화재단 유망예술지원사업에 선정되어 공연되었으며, 예술의전당과 카이스트 공연에서 관객들이 즉흥적으로 작곡하여 연주하기도 했다. 음악인들과 비음악인들, 나이를 불문하고 작곡에 참여하여 작곡 과정을 영상으로 남기기도 했다.

"The unexpected" was premiered by percussionist Eun-Hye Kim, a piece that children and amateur players can cut and paste on the paper and play on their own by choosing some of the given drawings. It is a work made with the concept of composing and playing sheets that look like a sticker book in the style of children's hand drawings.

It was selected for the Seoul Cultural Foundation's promising art support project and performed, and she played with the audience the improvised version by audience in real-time at the Seoul Arts Center and KAIST( Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). Musicians and non-musicians, regardless of age, participated in composing and recorded the composition process as a video.
